Nostalgia

So, I just discovered that early in the mornings, the Hallmark channel airs reruns of I Love Lucy and The Golden Girls. Those that know me well know that I'm a huge Golden Girls fanatic. I've watched that show since I was about 2 years old. My aunt introduced me to the show, and ever since then, I've been hooked. I have the theme song memorized. "Thank you for being a friend, travel down the road and back again, your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant, thank you for being a friend!" Yes, I totally went there.

So usually when I get up in the mornings for work, I make myself some breakfast and I watch the news. I know, I'm such a rebel. So, this week I was flipping through the channels and saw I Love Lucy was on! I also adore that show as well. Then right after they air I Love Lucy (they play 2 episodes back to back) once it's done they air The Golden Girls. So I've been watching that all morning while I get ready for work. And it's definitely made me feel so nostalgic. Brings me back to my childhood. I grew up watching those shows. It's weird, you know, how certain things take you back to your childhood, and then it makes you feel all funny inside. I don't know, maybe that's just me with the funny feeling.

I just feel like watching those shows brings you back to a simpler time. Well before social media, cell phones, the internet, etc. Back then was a time when people knew how to enjoy each other's company and just be. Sometimes I think that I was totally born in the wrong era. I'm an old soul. While I do enjoy the realities of today, I sometimes wish we could go back in time to those simpler times. Things these days get so complicated. Take dating for instance. Back then there was a thing called courting, where a man would court a woman. These days a woman is lucky to get a response back via text from a man! It's so different now a days. And to be an old soul in today's world is rather difficult. You are misunderstood a lot of the time. You don't necessarily fit in with the crowd. However, I'm okay with not fitting in with my peers. I find that I get along better with people who are much older than me.

Any who, I could go on and on about this type of subject, but not to worry, I won't. I just wanted to share my love for some of these old timey shows. Another one of my favorites is Who's the Boss. Oh man, I LOVE that show! I so badly wished they'd play reruns of it on TV. I could just get the seasons on DVD, right?! I might just do that.

Until next time, loves, ciao!

Happy 4th of July!

Today is the 4th of July, 2015. Independence day. Land of the free and home of the brave. Many think of this as just another holiday. As Americans, we should pause, and realize how blessed we are to live in America. Freedom is one of the most precious and important things in life. And often times we may take that for granted.
As I sit here, in my room, listening to the fireworks outside my window, I pause and think just how incredibly grateful I am to be living in this beautiful country. I have my freedom. I can do and be what ever it is I want to do and be. I reflect on that, and it makes me want to go out and do incredible things!
I'm guilty of taking for granted the every day things in my life. As I sit here, I look around my room, and I see how blessed I am! I have a home, and food on the table, and family who supports me in all that I do, a good job; I could go on and on. I thank God every day for my blessings. Because I know there are people out there who are suffering, who don't have a home and a bed to sleep in, or a job or money to pay the bills. Sometimes when I think about this, especially if I'm having a bad or stressful day, it makes me stop and realize that life could be a lot worse.

And that's why I reiterate that I am so proud to be an American citizen. To live in this beautiful country. To have my freedom. And let us not forget the men and women who serve our country so that we can have that freedom. To you, I say, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July. I hope you all are making beautiful memories with your family, friends and loved ones. Xoxo
